Eponymous with the inagural exhibition of the Ara Güler Museum, “The Whistling Man” invites viewers to re-examine Ara Güler’s visual storytelling through his work across various fields. Following the biography of Ara Güler as compliled by the Ara Güler Archives and Research Center, the book emphasizes the importance of understanding the world of Ara Güler— who gained international prominence particularly through his photographs of Istanbul and Turkey —as a storyteller who, since his childhood years, produced, wrote, documented and conveyed stories in as diverse fields such as literature, cinema, theater and photography.
