Published by Ara Güler Museum Publications, the accompanying publication of the namesake exhibition “Ara Güler’s Anatolia in Colour”, features colour photographs compiled from Ara Güler's travels through Anatolia between 1957 and 2003. The exhibition and book bring together numerous previously unexhibited photographs and underlines Ara Güler’s mastery of photography through his focus on light and composition as well as his love for Anatolia and its people
Throughout his life, Ara Güler traveled to numerous parts of the world, experienced diverse geographies and bore witness to many events. But above all, he photographed the landscapes and people of his own land. Ara Güler’s photographs of Anatolia, which he explored from inch to inch, reflect his sincerity and love for humanity. Ara Güler knows these lands well; he is curious, he senses where something noteworthy exists. Every photograph he takes is a reflection of his perspective on life. As viewers of these photographs, we feel as if we have been there, and have breathed the very same air as we look at his images.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of our Republic, Anatolia in Colour is another story spanning Ara Güler's life; about light, people, land, colour, and Turkey…
