This exhibition, put on display at the former Parcel Post Office in Galataport Istanbul as part of the ‘Beyoğlu Culture Road’ Festival, is a selection of colour photographs from Yitirilmiş Renkler (‘Vanished Colours’), a book published by Ara Güler in 1995. ‘The Shore’s Memory’ presents to the public some of his photographs of the Bosphorus and its shores – this being a part of Istanbul that immediately comes to mind when we think of the city – as well as scenes from everyday life on the littoral; the visitor is invited to follow the progress of a day by the waterside, beginning with the first light of dawn and ending at dusk.
