Iconic black-and-white photographs by Ara Güler met with art lovers in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, as part of the International Meetings of Photography Festival. The Ara Güler Museum continues to bring Ara Güler’s photographs to wider audiences through international exhibitions and collaborations. The exhibition, opened within the framework of the festival in Bulgaria, was presented as the festival’s main event.

As the festival’s guest of honor, an event held annually since 1983, the works of Ara Güler were shown alongside those of international photographers including Jacob Aue Sobol, Reiner Riedler, Máté Bartha, Marco Rigamonti, Roumen Koynov, Nikola Mihov, and Kostadin Chernev.

The exhibition, featuring 52 of Ara Güler’s well known black and white photographs - primarily taken in the 1950s and 1960s—was on view from 13 to 31 October 2023.
