Ara Güler Museum
This exhibition, which combines photographs with written texts, brings
together Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar – the writer who was dubbed ‘the
keeper of Turkish literature’s intellectual memory’ – and Ara Güler, the
master of the visual record. The visitor is invited to take part in a journey
in which real-life components are juxtaposed with imaginative ones;
during it, the magical streets and shores of Istanbul, plus some historical
events, are brought to life to the accompaniment of sound recordings in
which extracts from Tanpınar’s works are read by Levent Dönmez.
